Providing a Tailor-Made Service to Clients

I specialise in providing a personal and tailor-made service to my clients, including a particular focus on my elderly clients and in 2010 I qualified as a full professional member of Solicitors for the Elderly, an independent, national organisation of lawyers committed to providing the highest quality of legal advice to these clients and their families. I am a Dementia Champion and regularly give talks on living well with dementia.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, gardening and travelling nationally and internationally. I enjoy yoga, cycling and going for long walks and am working on mastering stand up paddle boarding.

Experience and Expertise

I studied German and Law in Johannesburg, South Africa and was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in June 1998.

In November 2001 I moved to England, re-qualified and was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in August 2004.

In February 2022 I re-joined Stone Rowe Brewer as a Partner Solicitor in the Private Client department.

I am a member of the Law Society’s Private Client Section and enjoy a varied caseload but I have a special interest in advising vulnerable and older Clients and in 2010 I qualified as a full professional member of Solicitors of the Elderly (SFE). In 2013 I qualified as a full member of The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

I have developed a good working relationship with local service providers, such as care homes, social services and charities.

Many of my clients worry about the possibility of future care costs eroding their children’s inheritance. I can advise you on your financial responsibility and help you to plan for the future, including advising you on NHS funded care and ways in which you can protect your children and grandchildren’s inheritance.

I can advise you on how you and your family would benefit from making a Lasting Power of Attorney, as well as on all matters relating to Enduring Powers of Attorney. I can also assist you in circumstances where no Power of Attorney is in place and an application for the appointment of a Court of Protection appointed Deputy is required. I am a member of The Professional Deputies Forum (PDF), a forum for solicitors and legal executives who act as professional deputies and those who work alongside them to share news, views and best practice.

I am a full professional member of STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) a worldwide professional organisation for practitioners dealing with family inheritance and succession planning. In January 2022 I completed the STEP Advanced Certificate in Advising Vulnerable Clients. I also serve as a regional director of SFE, committee member of STEP for Surrey and committee member of Surrey Law Society.

I will be happy to prepare a Will for you or if you already have a Will, review this with you on a life-changing event. I will advise you on claims that you ought to consider and discuss the potential Inheritance Tax liability of your estate and the ways in which you might reduce this.

Where a loved one has passed away I will be happy to deal with the Administration of their estate on your behalf if you are the executor or administrator including dealing with their tax affairs, collecting in or transferring their assets and distributing the estate in accordance with their Will or the Rules of Intestacy, if no Will has been made.
