Before joining Stone Rowe Brewer, I worked for one of the UK’s largest personal injury firms, advising other solicitors in all aspects of costs management and litigation. I am passionate that a disciplined and thorough approach to costs, based on actual experience is hugely beneficial to a successful legal practice.
I am very fortunate to be working for such a dedicated team where client care is at the heart of everything we do and I look forward to growing a specialist in-house costs environment and furthering my litigation career at the firm. In July 2018, I was appointed as the Costs and Funding Group Secretary by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).
I am also an accredited mediator (Civil and Commercial) and in that capacity, I am able accept instructions to attempt to settle disputes at a confidential meeting which has the benefit of saving time, emotional distress, reputations and often, significant costs. Mediation is an emerging and extremely important alternative dispute resolution method which should be considered at the earliest stage possible in any civil or commercial dispute. If you have a family dispute and require the help of a mediator, my colleague, Lisa Broddle, will be happy to assist you.
What is Mediation?
Mediation is a completely voluntary and confidential form of alternative dispute resolution. It involves an independent, impartial person helping two or more individuals or groups (separately or together) reach a solution that’s acceptable to everyone.
Mediators are not engaged to make judgments or decide on matters – they ask questions and assist parties in understanding issues. A good mediator will help a party clarify their objectives and identify the important issues in resolving a difference or dispute.
