Millions of Wills, including those of Princess Diana, Charles Dickens, Winston Churchill, Beatrix Potter and AA Milne have been now been made available online.
The Government is making its archive for England and Wales, which contains 41 million Wills dating back to 1858, available to the public in a searchable database, so that people will be able to use it to find out about their own family history, as well as looking up the wills of famous and influential people.
As well a being a fantastic resource for family historians, or anyone interested in social history, the exercise underlines how vital it is to have a Will in place, and how preparing a Will that meets your precise needs can affect future generations of your family.
