The Ice Rink returns this Saturday in front of Walpole’s Gothic fairy tale castle in Strawberry Hill, a pure white and turreted Grade One listed building. From dusk, the House will be lit from within, highlighting its unique collection of Renaissance stained glass windows.
Stone Rowe Brewer are once again proud to be supporting this temporary ice rink and to play our part in bringing it back to Twickenham – the spiritual home of ice skating.
Book online or come along from 5th December to 24th January (except Christmas Day). The rink opens daily at 9am and closes at 8.00pm. For more information see website.
There will also be an exhibition of photographs of ice skating from the Sports Drome – Richmond Ice Rink – which closed in 1992.
The Most Famous Ice Rink in the World book is available for order now but you can buy this at the rink. Introduction by Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.
This special hard-backed book has been produced using dozens of amazing, real life stories. These recollections – spanning the decades the rink operated – vividly recreate the atmosphere and enjoyment of skating at Richmond Ice Rink.
Whether you laugh – or cry – at these memories, they all underline the community spirit and love that still exists for the much missed Richmond Ice Rink. We hope you enjoy reading these reminiscences as much as we enjoyed collecting them. To order your copy of the book please click here.
